Nearest Decimal Approach Method of IP Addressing for Variable Length Subnet Mask Calculation: Myanmar IXP Model

One commonly used protocol for Internet data traffic routing is Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4). Specific networking jobs occupy large portions of IPv4's 32-bit address space, which provides 4,294,967,296 (232) unique addresses. The transition from IPv4 to IPv6 would take some time, depending on usage and adjustments to meet the relevant network resources. Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is still being deployed and some systems are adapting to its requirements for operation. IPv4 uses Variable Length Subnet Mask (VLSM) and Classless Interdomain Routing (CIDR) calculations. The calculation method presented in this paper which made use of VLSM and CIDR using the nearest decimal approach depicts a useful and practical method specially for network engineers. Binary conversions can be computed quickly with this computation scheme without requiring a thorough knowledge of them. By simply understanding the Table of Eight Sequence, Binary Number Order, and Slash Notation method of subnetting conversion, calculations will be quicker and more efficient.
