Emergency Imaging of Pregnant Patient
摘要
Imaging evaluation of pregnant women in the emergency setting is an important step in clinical decision-making. Accurate and timely interpretation of imaging studies may assist in early diagnosis with improved outcomes or obviate the need for surgical intervention by excluding severe pathologies. Although the spectrum of pathologies or injuries in traumas and nonpregnancy-related problems is similar, the pattern of injury, presentation, and management may differ. Therefore, it is important for radiologists to keep a high index of suspicion of pregnancy-specific problems and understand the epidemiology of nonpregnancy-related problems in pregnant patients. Ultrasound is generally the first-line imaging modality followed by MRI, except in abdominal trauma, where CT is the primary imaging modality.
