Cybersecurity is becoming an ever-important concern in the digital world. That is evident in the healthcare sector with the value that healthcare records hold in the wealth of personal information, which can put patients at risk if it were to be accessed improperly or stolen. As such, healthcare providers as custodians of patient information are required to be vigilant about who has access to this knowledge and to assure patients that their data is being kept secure. In accordance with these facts, the UAE has taken steps to not just protect patient information with legislation, but also began its vision to provide a unified records system through the Riayati project to mitigate the risk of medical error, and to make the healthcare system more efficient and effective by providing caregivers with accurate up-to-date patient information.
