Earth Observation Data for Mangrove Monitoring and Management at the Red Sea Coastline, Egypt
摘要
Mangrove ecosystems, pivotal in coastal protection, biodiversity preservation, and carbon sequestration, play an essential role in the global ecological balance. Advanced remote-sensing technology is vital for effective monitoring and conservation of these crucial habitats. This chapter highlights the crucial significance of remote-sensing data and artificial intelligence (AI) methodologies in the cartography and surveillance of Egyptian Red Sea mangrove areas. The combination of remote-sensing data with AI analysis provides a powerful tool for obtaining accurate evaluations of mangrove regions. The emphasis goes beyond simple observation and explores the potential of these technologies to substantially contribute to sustainable development goals (SDGs). This chapter provides a valuable contribution to the attainment of SDGs, such as biodiversity conservation, climate action, and marine life preservation, by harnessing the capabilities of remote-sensing data and AI approaches. Integration between technology and ecological concepts serves knowledge for decision making, promoting a long-lasting cohabitation between humanity and these precious coastal ecosystems.
