Mentoring and Induction in Literature
摘要
Equity is introduced to the new teacher mentoring/induction literature and schools. Support–accessibility–collaboration–equity (SACE), my framework, brings equity to the fore in mentoring and induction, which potentially enhances knowledge and practice in the hands of equity champions. Reimagining support, accessibility, and collaboration (SAC) as SACE supports newcomer socialization from a critical, equity-centered mentorship and leadership perspective. Cultures of school improvement intensively support professional development and learning. Exemplary formal mentoring/induction programs potentially offset dynamics interfering with high-quality teaching and learning and newcomer satisfaction and retention. This chapter is dedicated to three main topics described in research: (a) key concepts in new teacher contexts, (b) mentoring and induction frameworks, and (c) school trends documented in sources. Conversation starters and reflective activities further the engagement and stimulation.
