HeliconiasHeliconia are an increasingly important segment of the floricultural marketMarket. It is mainly exported from producing countries in the Americas and destined for European countries. The crop has economic, social and environmental importance in the regions where it is produced, and HeliconiaHeliconia is an emerging product in the floriculture industry as a tropical flowerFlower. Therefore, the aim of this chapter was to know the main research topics and their possible future contributions to the floriculture industry. A brief description of Heliconia sppHeliconia spp. was given. Numerical data from bibliometrics extracted from Web of Science are shown. The main countries involved in HeliconiaHeliconia cultivationCultivation research are mentioned. Then, based on the database obtained from Web of Science, the themes of analysis are presented in terms of scientific contributions and a corollary on future perspectives that aim to contribute to the knowledge of HeliconiaHeliconia. The most important elements identified are the modification of floweringFlowering times, post-harvestHarvest qualityQuality, shelf and vase lifeVase life, packaging and transport problems. Other uses as an innovative product in different industrial sectors have also recently received attention.
