The Nordic Region including Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, and Finland is a group of countries with societies that have been proven strong, stable, and prosperous and with a common share of social welfare, as well as a high level of social security for not only citizens but also the business environment. Not only the societies in the Nordics are receiving attention these years, the business environment and business conduct here are also different and learnings can be made from this in the transition to a green and circular economy creating a fair and sustainable planet. The traditions of Nordic business conduct are based on a flat governance structure, open and frank discussions, and an informal tone across all levels in the organization, a lack of authority, a high degree of trust, and social interactions across levels in society. All the people here grow up in the same free educational systems in these small countries, and the next boss often is an old schoolmate.
