This chapter presents the further elaboration of a research (Palermo, 2024) on the more-than-wet Ontologies (Peters & Steinberg, 2019), developed within the Oceanic Turn (Peters et al., 2022), entangled with the Blue Humanities perspectives. Starting from the Oceanic Turbulence (Lehman et al., 2021), in connection with Haraway’s trouble (2016), the chapter looks at the produced thought on oceanic materiality as a way to think-with other relations, other kinships, other futures. Through the novel Lagoon by Nnedi Okorafor, the chapter looks at trans-oceanic entanglements between materiality and metaphor and more-than human kinships between fact and fiction as alternative ecologies. Thus, the sea emerges not only as the space where extractive violence and geopolitical control takes place, but also as the potential space for practices of care, alliances, more-than-human relationships, speculative ecologies.
