Advanced Object Recognition Using Drones

We can use traditional high-resolution color cameras mounted to the drone to recognize objects. This article shows what other breakthrough options we have and what benefits they bring. We can create bird eye view images, and also, we can measure distances accurately from the air. The article covers the sensors used for Field mapping, orthophoto, 3D modelling. The article introduces LIDAR technology, what can be used to create a very accurate 3D map of the surface. Ground-penetrating radar can be used to see what is under the surface. It can detect buried objects and underground structures from the air. The article also covers thermal imaging. It has lots of possibilities when we use it in a drone. It can detect objects way better than regular color cameras. It can not only detect leakage, but it can see what happened in the past. It can see not in the dark, but in smoke and fog as well. Drones can be equipped with multi-spectral and hyper-spectral cameras, so the object recognition can be way better and much more accurate. Also we can use drones for calculating size, surface and volume. We can also measure the structure of walls by using contact devices attached to the drone. The article also introduce some special usage of the drones.
