In our paper, we introduce the Safety–Critical Components, then in the following, we highlight the importance of Root Cause Analysis and then we introduce classical tools for Root Cause Analysis such as 5W, Fishbone, Fault Tree Analysis, and the Event Tree Analysis. Additionally, we discuss the PDCA cycle, FMEA and the 8D which can be employed to eliminate potential failures. Towards the end of our article, we are reviewing some of the state-of-the-art techniques and prospects of the Root Cause Analysis.
