These documents are filled out by employees based on received commercial invoices. This process is time-consuming, and errors often occur during data entry. The article aims to present a prototype for modifying an existing system for the preparation of customs declarations by using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology and an artificial intelligence (AI) system. The article discusses the process of preparing a customs declaration in the examined international logistics company, along with a proposal to use OCR and AI to automate filling the document with the necessary data. The verification of this concept using a prototype is also presented, along with calculations based on real data regarding the profitability of implementing automation into the customs declaration preparation system. The contribution of the article is the proposal to automate the customs declaration process by using OCR and artificial intelligence, which significantly reduces the time required to prepare the finished document.
