The target of this paper is to investigate the existing distance measures, and introduce ones, as qualitative measures of closeness, between discrete data sets. We are mainly concentrated on fuzzy sets and concepts. For the fuzzy sets a number of distance measures are presented and discussed, while a number of results are introduced for concepts and attributes, and the appropriate distance measure is defined.
