During fetal development, the seventh intersegmental artery gives rise to the axial artery (Moore and Persaud 1998). As the axial artery continues to grow distally, it gives rise to the subclavian, axillary, and anterior interosseous arteries before terminating in the hand (Khalid and Bordoni 2021). Around 33 days of development, as the axial trunk gives rise to the subclavian and axillary arteries and extends into the limb bud, it extends past the neural plate and develops into a network of capillaries. The subclavian artery forms ventral to the neural plate as the limb bud develops. The neural plate divides into anterior and posterior divisions around 37 days of development, the forming axillary artery coursing through the anterior division. As the axillary artery becomes better defined, around 41 days of embryo development, it continues distally as the brachial artery, extending to the elbow (Rodríguez-Niedenführ et al. 2001).

摘要
