Despite its indispensability, the sector faces significant challenges, including workforce shortages, high stress levels, and the increasing demands of an aging population. This article examines strategies to enhance staff retention and development in German hospitals, focusing on NER. Recommendations include advanced training programs tailored for NER staff, resilience training, coaching, and supervision to mitigate stress-related burnout. Employer branding, innovative work models such as the 4-day workweek, and corporate childcare solutions are proposed to improve work-life balance and attract talent. By implementing these measures, hospitals can foster a sustainable workforce, enhance interdisciplinary collaboration, and ensure high-quality patient care in NFR.
