Hereditary Breast Cancer (BRCA1/2)
摘要
• Mutations in the breast cancer 1 or 2 tumor suppressor genes (BRCA1/2) are responsible for the majority of inherited breast and ovarian cancers. – BRCA1 is located on chromosome 17; BRCA2 is located on chromosome 13. – It has an autosomal-dominant pattern of inheritance. – <10% of breast cancers are hereditary. • Those with BRCA1/2 mutations have a greater frequency of bilateral breast cancer and a younger age of onset of cancer. • The mutation is common in those of Ashkenazi Jewish descent (risk is 30–35%).
