Solid waste management is a major challenge in municipalities and cities due to population growth and consumption habits. Therefore, the need for efficient use of resources, based on a reliable estimate of the waste generated, is the reason why artificial intelligence systems are being increasingly used. This will result in appropriate planning, which is particularly important in island territories. In response to this problem, the purpose of this work is to implement and test models to predict the volumes of mixed waste and biodegradable waste in Tenerife, Spain, using linear regressions and different artificial intelligence methods.

摘要

Solid waste management is a major challenge in municipalities and cities due to population growth and consumption habits. Therefore, the need for efficient use of resources, based on a reliable estimate of the waste generated, is the reason why artificial intelligence systems are being increasingly used. This will result in appropriate planning, which is particularly important in island territories. In response to this problem, the purpose of this work is to implement and test models to predict the volumes of mixed waste and biodegradable waste in Tenerife, Spain, using linear regressions and different artificial intelligence methods.
