Granuloma Inguinale
摘要
Granuloma inguinale, also referred to as donovanosis, is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacterium Calymmatobacterium granulomatis (formerly Klebsiella granulomatis). It results in genital ulcers and predominantly affects men, especially in tropical regions. It is also associated with pregnancy and HIV infection. Common symptoms include painless ulcers that bleed easily, potentially leading to severe complications, including elephantiasis if untreated. Diagnosis is confirmed through microscopic examination for Donovan bodies. Treatment generally involves antibiotics, such as tetracyclines or trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole. In cases of concurrent HIV infection, therapy must be adjusted accordingly. Preventive measures include the use of condoms, along with regular testing for coinfection.
