Chlamydia Trachomatis
摘要
Chlamydia trachomatis infection is recognized as the most prevalent bacterial infection transmitted sexually across the globe, with a distinguished prevalence peak among individuals aged 15–24 years. An estimated 130 million new infections are documented annually worldwide. Clinical manifestations of the infection may vary, ranging from cervicitis accompanied by discharge to asymptomatic presentations. If left untreated, infections can result in significant complications, including endometritis, salpingitis, and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), which can in turn lead to infertility and persistent abdominal pain. Pregnant individuals face heightened risks of premature rupture of membranes, chorioamnionitis, and premature labor. Diagnosis is achieved through polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing. Treatment usually involves the administration of antibiotics, such as doxycycline, macrolides, or quinolones. The management of chlamydial infections in pregnant women is inherently more complex and necessitates careful evaluation. Screening for chlamydial infections is routinely conducted in numerous countries.
