The survival of the human race refers to the living humans dependent on their health and health systems, including preventive and curative measures. The contemporary shift toward urban settlement as the place of residence makes it imperative to understand the intricacies of urban spaces and their liveability. Cities as a healthy system and economy as a system of cities are often considered synonymous, though they are quite a contra in neoliberal regimes. The people are left to take care of their health in large cities, including occupational health and trauma cases, partly due to the economic processes that make the city. The idea of an “anticipatory city” is rightly posed as it holds the future. It is essential to point out that many individuals and institutions have answers for the future without knowing the problems; they have a vision for an unknown destination. This paper will conceptualize important questions for the larger masses destined to live in oblivion as their voices have been silenced in the loud noise of the economic successes of existing and emerging “great powers.” Based on the discursive contextualization, I conclude that the core challenge for the future city is the tacit fortification of inequality on different counts and the unabashed defense of increasing consumption.
