This paper presents, a research collaboration model of Grupo de Investigación Colaborativa (GICDE) between schools teachers from Fundación del Magisterio de la Araucanía (FMDA), an entity that supports 106 educational establishments distributed in the regions of La Araucanía and Los Ríos, Chile, and teachers educators from Faculty of education of the Universidad Autónoma de Chile (UA). The purpose of this project was to explore the common elements between the Faculty of education UA and the educational provider of the FMDA for the development of a collaborative model of professional development. The study was conducted using a qualitative approach through a co-generative methodology, with the use of focus groups for the collection of information, and grounded theory was used as a tool for analysis. As a main result, categories and codes emerged that allowed the development of a collaborative model of professional development that have enable the development of various research projects. These projects have contributed to professional development and to the improvement of the educational quality of the school provider. On the other hand, for the Faculty of education UA, it has facilitated the acquisition of significant experiences to establish a working model to produce research that contributes to different areas of the school context. And, in addition, it has provided valuable experiences that support the creation of knowledge and new standards for the training of future teachers.
