School settings for individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are the primary locations where interventions can be provided to shape life-long outcomes. Educational imperatives must address not only the core learning content commonly associated with schools such as literacy and problem solving but also the social communication, social interaction, and self-regulatory skills necessary to apply any academic concept in a meaningful and productive fashion. As such, the educational system is tasked with the complex integration of individualized, multisystemic services throughout the typical setting of any classroom.
