Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR)-Based Nanoparticles in Agriculture

Application of nanotechnology to biologically derived products has become an attractive possibility in the direction of sustainable agricultural approaches. The current research explores the intricate area of PGPR-based nano-biofertilizers and how they have revolutionized the modern agriculture. For a considerable amount of time, it has been known that PGPR bioinoculants can enhance plant growth and yield by means of N2-fixation, and nutrient solubilization. But the emergence of nanotechnology has completely changed the farming system by providing the new approaches to boost the effectiveness and distribution of biofertilizers. Nano-formulations have guaranteed improved plant-microbe interactions and enhanced the bioavailability of PGPR inoculants by selectively targeting them to plant roots. Additionally, by extending their shelf-life and providing protection against environmental stresses. The mechanisms behind their mode of action, help to combat disease suppression, stress tolerance and plant growth promotion. However, this approach also takes into potential barriers and future opportunities associated with the widespread use of nano-biofertilizers, such as socioeconomic issues, environmental effects and safety regulations. This utilization of PGPR-based nano-biofertilizers promote sustainable farming methods and ecofriendly agriculture.
