This chapter is devoted to establish the background concerning Riemannian immersions in a semi-Riemannian warped product space, whose notion was introduced in the classical paper of Bishop and O’Neill (Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 145:1–49, 1969) and which widely generalizes the usual product of Riemannian manifolds.
