BK virus multiplication
摘要
Panel 8. This image shows the intensity of the BK virus multiplication in an infected kidney cell. The viral multiplication is so important that the viral particles that accumulate in large quantities in the cell form structures resembling a crystal (also visualized at high magnification in the photograph below). With such intensity of multiplication, it is clear that the virus hijack all the cellular machinery to its advantage, leading progressively to cell death. This image shows that the cell has lost its internal structure and is dying. The cell burst will allow the viral particles to exit, being then able to infect other cells.
