High-Reynolds Number Flows
摘要
This chapter discusses the general problem of flows at high Reynolds number. We start by considering the boundary layer, its structure in both laminar and turbulent cases, and its separation from the solid body. The transition of an internal flow from potential to viscous is then addressed. The irrotationality in perfect fluids is also analysed based on the classic Kelvin theorem. Finally, a series of potential external flows of aerodynamic and naval interest are derived.
