XR metaverse has been regarded as a promising way for virtualizing real sports to play sports games with virtualized humanoid avatars on a virtual world without limitations of space and time. Many researchers expect that real sports will be trans-formed to virtual sports through XR metaverse techniques, such as XR devices, XR avatars, XR simulators and so on. However, it is still remained as a technically difficult problem to play virtual sports with XR metaverse techniques because it is not easy to apply various XR techniques developed by several companies into a unified XR metaverse platform. In this paper, we proposed a new universal XR metaverse platform to play virtual sports games with multiple XR devices in a XR metaverse world. The proposed plat-form was developed with the OpenVR and OpenXR modules for systematically supporting multiple XR devices. In addition, a full-body tracking system and a treadmill were combined with the proposed platform in order to synchronize the body motion and locomotion of user with his or her avatar. The usefulness of the proposed platform was demonstrated with three XR metaverse-based virtual sports games in practice.
