Linguistic Strategies in English and Arabic Language Advertising: A Case Study of Zarqa Market

This study investigates the linguistic strategies used in Arabic and English advertising in the Zarqa Market in Jordan. The research explores the role of language in advertising and how it influences consumers’ perceptions and behaviors. The study analyzes linguistic taboos and translation strategies employed in Arabic advertising while noting the cultural and religious influences on the language. The paper assesses the linguistic landscape of Zarqa Market, showing linguistic patterns and advertisement placement. It found there are distinct strategies used in English and Arabic advertising indicating that advertisers use different persuasion methods depending on who their target audience is.
