This chapter delves into the nuances of the Brazilian far-right’s discourse within the global transnationalization of far-right groups, movements, and political parties. It argues that while Brazil imports certain behaviors and discourses from the organized far-right in other regions, it simultaneously infuses these repertoires with local characteristics tailored to specific contexts. Four peculiarities of the Brazilian far-right’s reconstruction and reinterpretation of enemies within the local context are identified: (a) regional xenophobia in contrast to global migration trends; (b) heightened use of hate speech targeted at Lula da Silva and the Brazilian Workers’ Party (PT), surpassing the generic critique of communism; (c) undermining the significance of COVID-19 pandemic health recommendations; and (d) engagement in attacks against the press and the strategic use of journalistic discourse.
