Drawing on the approach of Critical Discourse Studies, the research aims to analyze the discursive construction of the Italian government on the “Cutro shipwreck” by paying attention to the different strategies implemented in the following days that progressively shifted the focus by the attention from people who lose their life to “other” responsibilities. The case study intends to reconstruct the government's communication and the evolution of its discourse, putting together politicians’ posts on social media profiles, statements in parliamentary and press conferences after the tragedy. Precisely, analysis will focus on language and argumentative structures reproduced by the government allowing to identify different types of “Othering” and discursive construction of “enemies” by right-wing populists.

摘要
