Technological Dynamics of Digital Democracy: Social Media’s Influence on Voters’ Intention
摘要
This study addresses a critical gap in understanding the dynamics of modern electoral campaigning, particularly the influence of social media on voter behavior. By examining the impact of voters’ personal norms, social norms, and perceived behavioral control on their voting intentions, with a specific focus on the moderating role of social media political campaigns, this research sheds light on the intricate interplay between technology and politics. The study utilizes a two-stage structural equation modeling (SEM) approach and a sample size of 318 respondents. It reveals that social norms, personal norms, and perceived behavioral control significantly shape voting intentions, underscoring the central role of social media in shaping, and reinforcing these psychological factors. These findings have critical implications for political parties and candidates in the digital age. By strategically aligning their messaging with these psychological determinants and leveraging the influence of digital technology such as social media platforms, political actors can actively mold the social norms that impact voter decisions.
