In this chapter we will show the potential of quantum mechanics also for the study of more complex systems than atoms and elementary particles, like condensed matter formed by billions of billions of atoms. In this context we will have the opportunity to talk about very particular materials in which quantum aspects manifest themselves even at a macroscopic level. The chapter concludes with the most important applications of quantum physics, which have led to a real technological revolution that has changed our way of life.
