The Polish Steel Industry in the Context of Industrial Transformation
摘要
The Polish steel industry has only been on the market for three decades. Poland's political transformation began in 1989, at which time the government decided that the economy from a centrally controlled one would be a free market economy. The steel sector was in poor economic, technological and operational condition. In 2001, already during Poland's accession to the EU, the Polish government adopted steel industry restructuring programmes, which opened the Polish steel market to foreign investors and created the background of the steel market in Poland. Key changes, in the period from 1989 to 2022, in the Polish steel sector are shown in this chapter.
