Laparoscopic vs. Open Proctectomy for Rectal Cancer
摘要
After an American prospective randomized trial demonstrated non-inferiority of laparoscopic colon resection when compared with open resection, a trial with a similar design was conducted for locally advanced rectal cancer. However, laparoscopic surgery and open surgery were associated with similar perioperative outcomes, including similar length of hospital stay. Importantly, the trial was inconclusive for non-inferiority and therefore came to question the role of laparoscopic surgery in locally advanced rectal cancer.
