A novelty in lymphological diagnostics is the sonographic representation of lymphatic vessels. Visualizing the hidden through technical advancements in sonography that have occurred over the last decade will significantly accelerate lymphology in diagnostics and therapy. Lymphatic vessel sonography is expected to become an integral part of practical and scientific lymphology. This method for locating lymphatic vessels and for the LVA operation of suitable veins in the lower extremity was analyzed. The precision of the ultrasound findings was intraoperatively checked under the microscope. With ultrasound, lymphatic vessels can be precisely displayed without the aid of ICG lymphangiography. In 60% of patients, ICG lymphangiography failed; only the ultrasound procedure found lymphatic vessels.
