Edema formation always needs to be clarified causally, rarely there is no indication for the accumulation of fluid. The often-interdisciplinary clarification must also always check unusual questions. Lymphoedema can occur primarily or secondarily on all body surfaces, but preferably on the extremities. The lymphatic system is likely to play an increased role in fluid homeostasis.
