Morbid obesity affects an estimated 671 million people worldwide, and bariatric surgery remains the only lasting treatment. Current procedures present significant limitations: sleeve gastrectomy (SG) is irreversible and associated with gastroesophageal reflux, while the adjustable gastric band offers poor outcomes and diminished quality of life. The BariClip (BC) is a novel removable silicone-covered titanium device placed vertically parallel to the lesser curvature, creating gastric restriction without stapling, tissue resection, or anatomical alteration. In a pilot study of 162 patients (November 2012–July 2018), mean percent excess weight loss reached 49.1% at 12 months and 62.2% at 30 months. Quality of life assessment using the Moorehead-Ardelt Questionnaire demonstrated significant improvement across all dimensions (p < 0.001), with 92.7% of patients reporting improved quality of life. The BariClip represents a safe bariatric procedure combining SG efficacy with complete reversibility and reduced reflux rates.
