Since the beginning of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy in the early 2000s, the only choice surgeons had was to use multiple fires of general purpose endocutter staplers. This changed in 2021 with the release of a single-fire stapler designed and indicated specifically for sleeve gastrectomy pouch creation. Early clinical evidence suggests the use of the single-fire stapler in laparoscopic and robotic sleeve gastrectomy is associated with a shorter operative time and reduced chances of leak, stricture, postoperative interventions, reoperations, and readmissions.

摘要

Since the beginning of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy in the early 2000s, the only choice surgeons had was to use multiple fires of general purpose endocutter staplers. This changed in 2021 with the release of a single-fire stapler designed and indicated specifically for sleeve gastrectomy pouch creation. Early clinical evidence suggests the use of the single-fire stapler in laparoscopic and robotic sleeve gastrectomy is associated with a shorter operative time and reduced chances of leak, stricture, postoperative interventions, reoperations, and readmissions.
