Background: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is a bariatric procedure emerging from duodenal switch that itself emerged from the standard biliopancreatic diversion. In this chapter, I chronologically address each step and development leading to laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. Conclusion: It has been 25 years since the use of laparoscopic technique to construct a sleeve gastrectomy, and the development has been rapid and short and has spread worldwide.
