The road vehicles development and continuous changing approaches due to the legislative constraints and global trends consists of implementing less pollutant powertrain solutions, including hybrid and electric powertrains. The current paper presents the design and virtual development of an energy storage system to be used by a light electric van, both for passengers and goods transport. In addition, the paper presents the energy storage system climate system design and virtual development, together with the investigation of the energy storage system thermal behavior while being used by the virtual prototype of a light electric van.
