Non-infective stomatitis refers to inflammation of the oral mucosa caused by agents other than infections. It’s classified based on specific causes, e.g. trauma, autoimmune conditions, or allergic reactions. Histopathologically, in addition to inflammation, it shows epithelial alterations, e.g. atrophy or hyperplasia, intra-epithelial separation or sub-epithelial-connective tissue separation, or ulceration.
