Intelligent gaming as an educational tool is becoming increasingly popular thanks to its ability to provide a fun and engaging way for students to learn. These games often incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AR), which enables data collection and processing that is subject to the guidelines of the GDPR, the new EU data privacy framework. As a result, experts emphasize the importance of obtaining consent for personal data processing while balancing the benefits of gaming and education with regulatory compliance. In this chapter, we describe the features of the Privacy and Ethics Module of the EPATHLO Educational Game Suite, which ensure that the suite’s educational games are GDPR-compliant. Guided by these features, we combine legal and computer science expertise to offer practical solutions in the form of guidelines for gaming stakeholders, particularly those in the educational sector. These guidelines aim to help stakeholders navigate the complexities of GDPR compliance concerning intelligent gaming while guaranteeing that students continue to benefit from these games’ educational advantages.
