Hard skills refer to an individual’s abilities related to their knowledge of a particular field. On the other hand, soft skills are a person’s abilities related to their personality traits and capacity to establish relationships. Employers are now looking for both hard and soft skills in job candidates. Soft skills cannot be defined or proven through certifications and degrees; they are acquired through life experience. Educational institutions usually do not teach soft skills, so people need to work on developing them themselves. The game of the book helps students develop hard (learning HTML programming) and soft skills for developers, such as communication, teamwork, interpersonal skills, and customer relations. It follows a holistic approach and fills the gap between these two skill sets. The game’s tasks include mutual help between non-playable characters (NPCs) and the player, individual tasks and collecting items, interdisciplinary cooperation, and developing customer-oriented skills. Furthermore, the adaptivity of the game scenario reinforces these skills by adding extra tasks when necessary.
