The management of larger number of waste material is an utmost concern for civilization worldwide due to its influence on the human health and ecosystem. With the advent of new and innovative technologies, researchers from various fields trying their best to find solutions for waste management that are also related to UN-SDGs (United Nations-Sustainable Development Goals). Waste is an unwanted, discarded, dumped or rejected material, that play no role other than burden on the society. Recycling is an important waste management tool that not only minimizes waste but also saves the natural resources. Traditionally, mechanical and chemical recycling have been used but they exhibit some limitations. The 4th industrial revolution (4IR), associated with innovative technologies have found the best solution to mitigate the waste generation, waste recycling and protect the humanity and ecology of this planet, associated with UN-SDGs.
