The extensive application of pesticides in agriculture, coupled with the release of heavy metals from industrial activities, exacerbates environmental contamination and poses severe health risks to both humans and ecological systems. Persistent organic pollutants (POPs), such as DDT, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) resist environmental degradation and have a propensity to bioaccumulate within the food chain. Pharmaceuticals from industrial effluents released into the environment and improper disposal practices represent an emerging threat to public health. It is crucial to understand the mechanisms by which pollutants exert their toxic effects, develop effective mitigation strategies, and influence policy decisions. Sustainable developmental goal 3 states good health and well-being and ensures a healthy life for all individuals.
