Use of nanoparticles (NPs) is expanding in various sectors. One of the most prominent sectors in which nanoparticles are gaining interest due to many of their properties, is the food industry. They are applied specifically in the food packaging sector, and have gained momentum recently. ZnONPs have become a popular industrial choice among many NPs. The structural characteristics of ZnO has led to its biocompatibility, thermal stability at very high temperatures and antimicrobial properties leading to long-term endurability. These properties of ZnO nanoparticles have picked the interest of researchers to focus their studies in food packaging that make use of ZnONPs and nanocomposites. This paper delves into the process of creating food packaging from ZnONPs. Various methods were reviewed in this paper, from the production of ZnONPs to extracting target materials and finally producing the antimicrobial films. Exploring these various methods provides valuable insight into methods and allows us to conduct preferable processes to produce packaging of these kinds.

摘要
