Pressure ulcers (PUs) are a problem associated with healthcare that affects the quality of life of the patient and their informal caregiver/family, with a real impact on the costs involved in their treatment. To identify the profile of the person with PUs in a Portuguese hospital. This is an observational study of a quantitative nature in a cross-sectional cohort and retrospective focus with clinical data collection to identify the case and profile of a person with a pressure ulcer in a hospital in central Portugal in the year 2022. Of the 17,540 inpatients, 1511 (8, 6%) already had altered skin integrity. Among these, 53, 8% were male, with an average age of 81, 1 years. Regarding location, the sacrococcygeal region accounted for 36, 7% of the total, the majority of which were acquired at home (29, 7%). The majority (44, 7%) had category II lesions. The indicators that showed correlation with the risk of PU were age and lack of activity. Age and lack of activity proved to be the determining factors for the increased risk of PU. The results show that it is essential to implement preventive interventions appropriate to the level of risk identified, to prevent complications and improve quality of life.
