Performance Analysis for SGINs

With the rapid development of information and communication technology, the emerging SGIN has attracted much attention. However, its effective deployment and operation require strong technical support as well as comprehensive evaluation and optimization of its performance. This chapter evaluates and guides the design and performance optimization of SGINs through capacity, coverage, and delay analyses and provides corresponding analysis methods and tools. The mission, node, and link models constructed in Chap. 2 can, respectively, depict the input, processing, and transmission processes of traffic in performance analysis. We derive the mathematical relationship between network parameters and SGIN capacity, based on which we can evaluate the serviceability of SGINs and determine the strategy of flow control. Regarding coverage, we analyze signal, capacity, and service coverage performance, which are important indicators reflected in wide-area broadband access applications. We use the queuing theory introduced in Chap. 1 to analyze single-, dual-, and multi-hop delay in typical SGIN applications, so as to evaluate SGIN performance and lay the foundation for its optimization. Through the comprehensive analysis of these key performance indicators, we provide tools and guidance for the understanding and evaluation of the performance of SGIN systems and for their optimization and performance enhancement through capacity, coverage, and latency analysis, as an important reference for system design, optimization, and deployment.
