How Did Legislation Shape in Vitro Fertilization and Vice Versa, the Case of the Overturning of Roe V. Wade?

Contrary to common perception, the intersecting realms of abortion, terminating pregnancies, and IVF share a nuanced connection within the legal framework of the United States surrounding reproductive rights. In this chapter, we present the legal battles surrounding the right to have an abortion. IVF was introduced and developed to its current form during the half century since the court’s decision in the Roe trial affirmed that pregnancy termination is a constitutional right. The recent overturning of Roe in 2022 threatens the practice of IVF as so vividly portrayed in the Alabama’s court ruling that frozen embryos are citizens with legal right.
