This chapter presents statistical analysis of participant ideologies toward Catalan and Spanish language, identity, and nationalism in 1995 and 2017 and longitudinal change in these ideologies. In both datasets, greater exposure to Catalan (birth to 1995) and greater community involvement in Catalan life predict increased Catalanist ideologies. Over time, involvement eclipses exposure in uniquely predicting Catalanist ideologies, which increase significantly from 1995 to 2017. The impact of first-order network ties, which predict 1995 ideologies broadly, changes over time, predicting 2017 ideologies only for females. Given 1995 ties to a Spanish-speaking personal network, working with Catalans predicts 1995 Catalanist ideologies, greater exposure to Catalan (birth to 1995) predicts 2017 Catalanist ideologies, and increased longitudinal involvement in Catalan life predicts more Catalanist ideologies over time. Overall results evince temporally bound, culturally embedded lexical coding in each dataset, enhancing our understanding of contemporary community ecologies.

摘要
