Using the form of the guided tour, the London Filmmakers Co-op is discussed during the time of Raban’s closest involvement at the Dairy in Kentish Town between 1972–6. The workshop, distribution and cinema are presented as a unique creative laboratory producing radical works by Annabel Nicolson, Malcolm Le Grice, David Larcher and many others. The significance of the Filmaktion exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery (1973) is revealed as the first major show of British expanded cinema. The chapter concludes by considering the split that started to emerge in the mid-1970s between structural film and more content-based works.
